Jaipur

Our next stop was Jaipur, otherwise known as the Pink City.
Up on the hill is Jaigarh Fort.

The Amber Fort
Originally built in the 11th century, the fortress-palace was the capital
of the Kachhawahas until 1727 when Jai Singh moved the capital to the new city of Jaipur.

In the water below The Amber Fort, the elephants take their daily baths.

This ones coming to say hello to the kids.
Eion's a little skeptical.

Ok... Maybe just a little pet.

Jaipur is known as the "Pink City" because many of its buildings are painted pink.
This is one of Jaipur's city gates.

This is the Hawa Mahal or The Palace of the Winds.
Built in 1799 to enable the ladies of the royal household to watch the everyday life
and royal processions in the city without being seen by others.
It is only one room deep.

"Rickshaws" are a popular way to get around town.
